Dr Dan Nightingale is one of only a handful of Dementia Consultants in the UK. He widely recognised and well known throughout the field of dementia care and is currently responsible for the care and wellbeing of many people living in nursing and care homes.

He trained with the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, achieving his advanced diploma (ADHP) in September 2007.

In February 2009, he was awarded the honour of European Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis (ECCH) and became a Fellow of the National College Student and Alumni Guild in May 2009.

He is currently working with the National College to develop a dementia specific training programme and Faculty of Dementia.

He has worked extensively in collaboration with Dr Simon Duff at the University of Liverpool in the use of hypnotherapy for people living with dementia. This led to two publications in 2005 and 2006 in the European Journal of Clinical Hypnosis and a further publication in Alzheimer’s Care Today in the USA in 2007.

He is currently leading a pilot project, due to conclude in December 2009, using Montessori as a technique for Enhancing the dining experience of people living in the nursing and care home environment.
